Tonga shaken by another earthquake

LAST UPDATE: Tonga Islands experienced another earthquake this morning 4 hours after a 7.4 magnitude struck at 6:19am.

The 6.6 magnitude earthquake rattled the main islands  at 10:07am 87 kilometer of Nuku’alofa.

According to USGS the previous quake hit deep south of Fiji approximately 250 km south of the capital.

No tsunami alert or damages report issued following the two quakes but the previous one  has caused GeoNet’s system to falsely identify two strong earthquakes.

The GeoNet website reported a magnitude 6.1 and a 5.9 earthquake about 5.25am off the East Coast, but these have since been deleted.
