Two dead, four hospitalised after crash south of Dunedin

Two people have died and four have been hospitalised following a two-vehicle collision on SH1 south of Dunedin this afternoon.

Police were called to Titri around 12.15pm today, while Hato Hone St John responded with “two helicopters, three ambulances and two rapid response vehicles”.

At around 1.50pm, St John told 1News that four patients were transported to Dunedin Hospital, three in a critical condition and one in a serious condition.

Just before 8pm, a police spokesperson confirmed that two other people were involved in the crash and had died at the scene.

Waka Kotahi NZTA said the road has since reopened following the crash.

Police said inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
