Person killed in rural Auckland crash after car hits tree

One person has been killed in a single-vehicle crash in northwest Auckland.

Emergency services were called to the crash at about 6.15pm on Riverlea Rd, near Dale Rd, in Whenuapai.

Police told 1News that a car hit a tree after the driver suffered a medical event.

The road remains blocked while the serious crash unit examines the scene, police said.
