Firefighters were called to the scene in Rosedale at 8.30pm after receiving multiple calls about the fire, according to a Fire and Emergency spokesperson.

“On arrival, they found a well-involved fire.”

Thirteen fire trucks are attending to the scene, including three specialist vehicles.

Firefighters from eight fire stations across Auckland are responding to the incident.

Speaking to 1News, a nearby witness said there was a significant amount of black smoke emanating from the fire, which was occurring on the roof of a building.

The fire is believed to be occurring at a refuse station in the area.
